    • What if I need to add baggage to my booking?

If you have purchased a Light fare that does not include hold luggage, you have the option of adding luggage to your reservation directly online, when booking your flight ticket or in a second moment during the "Manage bookingsection or by calling the Air Dolomiti Call Center. You get the best rates if you pay up to 8 days before flight departure – or you may pay for your extra luggage at a higher rate at the airport.

You may add extra bags for adults and children, except infants (children under two). This ancillary service is not refundable.

For all flights within Europe (e.g. Munich-Venice or Frankfurt-Verona) and only if flying on an Air Dolomiti Light fare ticket (that does not include hold luggage) starting from 3 November 2020 below fares will be applicable:

Economy LIGHT fares – Excess Baggage Fees Online booking up to 8 days before departure Online booking 7-0 days before departure At the airport

Fares with hold luggage included – Excess baggage Fees

Fees are per leg for each passenger. Each extra bag can be up to the same size and weight as a standard checked bag. If at the airport your luggage exceeds the standard allowance either in weight and dimension, a surcharge may be applied. Bags over 32kg cannot be checked in.

If the extra baggage fare is paid for at the airport, an extra fee may be applicable.

      Important information

Additional free baggage (up to 23 kg in Economy class; up to 32 kg in Business class) or free golf equipment are allowed for HON, Senators or Star Gold members with an Air Dolomiti ticket (starting with 101).

The additional free baggage or free golf equipment allowance is not applicable to HON/SEN and Gold Star Members traveling with LIGHT fare anymore. Therefore all checked baggage has to be charged as extra baggage.

    • What are the weight and measurement limitations for hand luggage?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Changes in hand baggage rules
Effective from 26th June 2020, passengers are only allowed to carry on board one piece of hand luggage, regardless of the fare purchased.
If you have purchased a fare that allows 2 pieces of hand luggage (for example Business Class fares) you can bring only one bag on board with you and register the other bag in hold.

Every piece of hand luggage that complies with the rules (dims max 55x40x20cm and max 8kg) can now be checked in free of charge – even if you have booked a Light fare. Please deliver your handbag at the check-in counter.
This also applies to transit passengers in Germany who pass through security checks.

Please consult our Corona-Decrees and regulations section for the current baggage regulations.

      ****

The maximum weight for hand baggage is 8kg and dimensions for carry-on baggage: max 55x40x20cm.
      For Economy Class fares only one item is included;
the hand baggage in Business class fares includes two pieces of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg each.

Please visit our baggage regulations area for detailed information.

Important information for the passengers flying to the United States: effective from 30th June 2018 powder-like substances over 12 oz. / 350 mL should be placed in checked bags.
Powders over 12 oz. / 350 mL in carry-on bags may be prohibited.

    • What kind of liquids can I carry in my hand baggage?

Each liquid you carry in your hand baggage must be in its own container of no more than 100 ml. All liquids must be placed in a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag with a total volume of no more than 1 litre. One transparent plastic bag may be taken per person.

      However, you may always bring:
      •    Baby food to be consumed during the flight
      •    Medicines to be taken during the flight, provided you have a prescription or attending physician's statement
      •    Special diet foods to be consumed during the flight

    • If my trip includes a transfer with a connecting flight, will my check-in baggage be sent to my final destination?

If your trip includes a transfer with a connecting flight, your check-in baggage will usually be sent to your final destination. The baggage claim tag that you receive when dropping off your baggage always states your bag’s final destination.

When transferring, you only need to collect your baggage and check it in again for your connecting flight, if:
      •    You have purchased 2 or more tickets from different airlines that have dissimilar conditions
      •    You arrive at one airport and your connecting flight departs from another airport
      •    Your transfer lasts longer than 12 hours or your next flight departs the next day.

    • What does it happen if my journey includes flights with other airlines?

Baggage allowances and policies can vary from airline to airline. If your journey includes a flight with an airline other than Air Dolomiti, your checked baggage allowance may be different:

      •    If your entire journey is with another airline, their checked baggage allowance will apply. For example, if you fly Lufthansa from Milan Malpensa to Munich, Lufthansa’s baggage policy applies, even if the flight is operated by Air Dolomiti,
      •    If your journey includes connecting flights with more than one airline, the checked baggage policy of the airline that operates the longer leg will apply. For example, if you fly with Lufthansa from New York to Munich and connect onto Air Dolomiti to Venice, the leg with Lufthansa is longer and their baggage policy applies to the whole journey.

    • Can I transport special baggage?

You can bring sporting equipment and other items instead of a suitcase only if you have booked your flight in a fare that includes hold luggage (in this case sporting equipment is included in the free baggage allowance).

If you booked your flight in a fare that does not include hold luggage, you will be charged the fee for the transportation of sporting equipment.

For items larger than 2 meters or heavier than 32kg, transportation will be denied.

Important: reserve in advance for special baggage

Because of limited space on our aircraft, you need to make a reservation for the transportation of some types of special baggage as early as possible – no later than 48 hours before departure.

Make sure that the reservation is confirmed before departure to ensure that you can take your special baggage with you.

    • What are the regulations and prices for sporting equipment?

      Flat rates for sports baggage

The rates for standard sports equipment are as follows:
      -national routes (e.g. Florence-Catania): 70€
      -routes within Europe (e.g. Frankfurt-Verona): 80€

These prices are charged per route each time (from one bag drop-off to the next) and are valid exclusively for Air Dolomiti and Lufthansa flights.

      •    A pair of skis max 2 metres long (or a snowboard), a pair of poles, a pair of ski boots (in a separate bag), a helmet.

Ski equipment must be booked in advance as a limited number of skis may be transported due to limited space in the aircraft.

Important: bicycles will only be accepted if they are packaged in a suitable bicycle case or a similar protective bag (cardboard, hard plastic, etc).

      •    Ammunition must be exclusively for sporting purposes

      •    When checking in the baggage, you must declare that the firearms are not loaded and that the ammunition has been packed separately, and complete the form provided. More information will be supplied at check-in.
      •    Once the firearms have been checked in and tagged, the carrier will provide a suitable escort and handling of the firearms and/or ammunition to the aircraft.
      •    Return of the firearm at the destination will comply with local regulations. In the case of flights arriving in Italy, passengers must report to the Police Bureau for the return of the firearm and/or ammunition. The carriage of weapons and ammunition is subject to international and national legislation. More specifically, for flights departing from and/or arriving in Italy, the applicable law is No. 694/74.

The service must be requested when making the reservation. In some airports, may ask travellers to pay an additional fee for handling weapons.

The following fees will be charged per piece and route:
      -national flights: 70€

If you choose this last option, you should make the reservation for the extra seat at the same time as the passenger ticket contacting Air Dolomiti Sales Center. The service is subject to costs that must be checked directly with the airline.
