The airline confirms the compliance with international standards
Verona, 8th April 2021 - Air Dolomiti, the Italian airline of Lufthansa Group, has obtained the validation of the Environmental Declaration submitted for the Community system of Eco-Management and Audit Scheme EMAS. This tool, created by the European Community, aims to the improvement of Environmental efficiency and is targeted to all public and private Companies that wish to commit in evaluating and upgrading their internal processes.
The requirements for membership are the existence of an Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015) and the submission, with subsequent validation, of an Environmental Statement. EMAS promotes continuous improvement in the performance of organizations through the establishment and application of environmental management systems, the periodic and systematic protocols evaluation and the provision of information on the results obtained.
The certification, which in Italy is issued by ISPRA, the Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, will last three years. Adherence to EMAS will guarantee the adoption of eco-processes, reducing the incidence of events that could be environmentally damaging, provide guarantees of compliance with eco-friendly regulations, and encourage the development and growth of technical and scientific knowledge for the continuous improvement of environmental performance.
"With this integrated system, we are helping to make air traffic more environmentally friendly and at the same time more cost-effective by optimizing the use of resources, with the aim of creating economic and ecological added value. This commitment to joint action for the protection of the environment is the basis for many projects, measures and innovations that describe the path to a sustainable future. The integration and general organization, as far as environmental management issues are concerned, will also result in a coordinated and transparent communication regarding activities and internal operational processes," said Joerg Eberhart, President and CEO of Air Dolomiti.
After obtaining UNI EN ISO 9001 certification in 2000, ISO/IEC 27001 in 2017 and ISO 14001:2015 in 2020, which are regularly monitored and renewed to guarantee compliance with the required standards, Air Dolomiti is the first Italian airline for public passenger transport to obtain this certification.
