Amsterdam Airport

Amsterdam-Schiphol airport

Located 15 kilometres south-east of the city centre, Amsterdam Airport (AMS) is the main airport in the Netherlands and connects the Dutch capital to multiple European and international destinations. Inaugurated in 1916, it has consolidated its importance over the years to become the fourth busiest airport in Europe.

Connections and transport with Amsterdam airport

Amsterdam Airport is well connected to the city centre and offers several transport options to passengers. The quickest and cheapest way is by train, thanks to the railway station being located directly under the terminal, operating from early in the morning until late at night. In just 20 minutes, you can reach the heart of the Dutch city with a ticket costing approximately 5.90 euros. In front of the main entrance of Amsterdam airport, in Schiphol Plaza, you can find the bus station: the Airport Express guarantees a direct connection via lines 397 and N97, the latter active at night. For those who decide to travel by car, there are several rental agencies inside the airport that offer a wide range of services and useful rates to meet the needs of the traveller. Those who prefer a quick and personalised transfer, however, can go to the taxi station, located outside the arrivals’ terminal of Amsterdam-Schiphol airport: the fare costs may vary depending on the destination you want to reach.

Passenger Services

Amsterdam Airport offers a wide range of services to ensure maximum comfort for passengers during their stay. In addition to traditional refreshment points such as bars, restaurants and duty-free shops, there is Holland Boulevard, an area where shops offer a selection of the best Dutch products, including souvenirs, jewellery and sweets. The section dedicated to some of the Rijksmuseum's most famous works is not to be missed. It guarantees passengers the opportunity to admire works of art and learn about the rich Dutch culture before or after their flight. Furthermore, for travellers' financial needs, ATMs and currency exchange are available. For business trips, the VIP area ensures a first-class airport experience offering numerous services such as a private lounge, check-in assistance and baggage management. Furthermore, Amsterdam airport is equipped to assist passengers with reduced mobility, guaranteeing adequate support to ensure an easy and comfortable journey.
