Saint Helier, the capital city

Among the things you absolutely must do in Jersey is a visit to its capital, Saint Helier, a small but dynamic coastal city that offers many attractions. Starting from Liberation Square, it is possible to breathe the crisp air of the downtown streets, animated by numerous shops, restaurants and pubs or head towards the seafront, with its quaint marinas and restaurants. From here it is also possible to visit one of the most emblematic places of the city, the Elizabeth Castle, an imposing 16th century fortress that offers a breath-taking view of the bay. Reachable by sea via ferry and, a truly original experience, with a short walk that can be taken respecting the tides, this castle will allow you to discover an important part of the history of this place suspended in time.

Elizabeth Castle is not the only fortress to visit: among the things to see in Jersey, you cannot miss the medieval castle of Mont Orgueil, which, with its 800 years of history, is one of the main symbols of the island. The 200 steps leading to its peak amply repay the effort: from here you can admire one of the best views of the whole archipelago. There are also numerous contemporary works of art housed in the structure, such as the famous "The Queen" and "Equanimity", created by the artist Chris Levine and the holographer Rob Munday. For those with a thirst for knowledge, a visit to the Jersey Museum is also a must. Such a visit allows you to learn more about the local culture and its history through a 250,000-year journey.
