Verona

Verona

Apart from Venice no other north Italian city evokes as many pleasurable associations as Verona (255,000 inhabitants), the city of Romeo and Juliet. Visitors look forward to a cappuccino in one of the café's at the Piazza Bra, the impressive Arena directly in front of your eyes, to the stroll across the picturesque Piazza delle Erbe or to the beautiful view of the city with the castle and the fast flowing Adige from the bridge Ponte Scaligero.
Even if the colours pink (Veronese marble) and reddish-brown (bricks) give the town a uniform delicate shimmer, it is nevertheless full of variety. Just think of the many splendid churches awaiting art lovers with their precious paintings by famous artists, among them those of the Gothic painter Pisanello in the churches Sant’Anastasia and Santi Fermo e Rustico and the works of Paolo Veronese in San Giorgio in Braida.
