As the symbol of the Italian cuisine, pizza is perhaps the most popular speciality ordered and enjoyed in Naples.

Pizza can be considered as the ideal compromise between a proper meal and a quick snack and today has become not only the symbol of gastronomy culture in Naples but especially one of its main dishes.
This recipe was definitively consecrated in 1889 when pizza-chef Raffaele Esposito made a gift to Queen Margherita di Savoia of three different types of pizza: the Queen finally chose the one topped with mozzarella, tomatoes and basil - and this pizza was henceforth named Margherita in her honour.
If you travel to Naples today, you can enjoy a thousand variants in most restaurants; we suggest that you order pizza with local buffalo mozzarella - because such a pizza can only be found in Naples!
There are numerous pizzerias in the historic centre but we recommended a stroll along Via dei Tribunali, the street with the most pizzerias and the historical Pizzeria Brandi going back to 1780.
Da Michele was established in 1870 and the menu has only two types of pizza: Margherita and Marinara. And Pizzeria Sorbillo, a Neapolitan pizzeria boasting impressive traditions managed by the Condurro family with 21 children who are all pizza chefs.
