Shakespeare and his "Romeo and Juliet" have turned Verona into one of the most famous Italian cities in the world. There are three main places to visit to re-live their love story.
The tour begins in Via Cappello with the famous balcony in the courtyard of Juliet's House, the place symbolising the drama of these two young lovers.
Then just few minute - walk visitors will find Juliet's tomb in Via del Pontiere and the cloisters of San Francesco al Corso, the place where the love story tragically ended.
All these places are open free of charge during Verona in Love, an event that involves entire historic centre from 13th to 16th February.
This appointment is dedicated to all the couples who wants to declare their love in the city of Romeo and Juliet.Piazza dei Signori, for the entire period, hosts the famous heart-shaped market where you can find a huge quantity of sweets and chocolate. Anyone wishing to immortalise his promise of love can do so just leaving a message in Juliet's House : thanks to enormous panels installed along the corridor leading to the courtyard, all lovers can express their feelings in a public and indelible way.
The Well of Love is another place which must to be visited by lovers. Just go for a stroll into the narrow streets around Piazza Erbe and little by little you will come to Vicolo San Marco in Foro and you will reach the Well; then throw a coin into it to bring good fortune to your love story: "throw just one coin into the Well and think for a moment about your destiny. Don't be distracted and make no sound... little by little comes love!"
